The Life of an Executive Order The new president faces significant challenges at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Rectifying these short comings is important if the U.S. is to remain secure and prosperous. On January 27th, 2017, president Trump signed an executive order dealing with immigration. The order took effect immediately and sparked anger and confusion across the nation. Dozens of international travelers were detained at airports across the country. Most of those detained were simply caught up in a government communication limbo. The order placed a temporary moratorium on immigration from seven countries Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. The people who elected Donald Trump president say the furor†¦show more content†¦The order had been reviewed by the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) before it was issued. The OLC, whose authority addresses the form and whether the order is properly drafted, approved the order. Yates objected to the president’s executive order. Yates declared that as long as she was acting attorney general, the Department of Justice would not present arguments in defense of the executive order until she became convinced that it was appropriate to do so. Clearly, since Yates did not issue this statement on the grounds that the order was illegal, she based her decision on her disagreement with the justice of the order. Consequently, Yates was fired. This action fortified the legal battle we are debating today. Timeline of Trumps Order and the Court Filings Sunday, Jan. 29 Federal lawsuits were filed in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington on behalf of travelers who were detained in airports in the United States. Later Sunday evening, the White House said that legal permanent residents are exempt from the travel restrictions in the new executive order, referring to green card holders. Monday, Jan. 30 Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court in Seattle citing examples of residents impacted by the ban. Risky Business: Consent Safety and fire fighting Culture. This case study introduces us to the risk, safety measures, and issues involved in fire fighting. The title of the case study is Risky Business: Consent Safety and fire fighting Culture. The case discusses the Bay City fire fighting department which is known â€Å"as one of the most advanced in the country† (2010). The case highlights the fact that though the department has one of the most highly trained fire fighters in its team, the chief is concerned about some security issues which were due to result of negligence and disobedience on the behalf of the firefighters. Personal Goals Essay When I think of graduating from college, I see someone who is 22-years old. When I was 22 years old, I had seen more things than I care to remember. I had just left the Air Force where I was a medic in the first Gulf War. I spent most of my time in the Labor and Delivery unit of the base hospital. I loved assisting with the birth of a child. My time spent in the Labor and Delivery unit was the most wonderful and rewarding experience. Before I left the Air Force, I started taking college courses working toward a bachelors degree in Nursing. My dream was to obtain a Master of Nursing degree in Midwifery. As a Certified Nurse Midwife I could care for pregnant women and help them bring their babies into this world. Complete My Degree When I left the military and returned to Austin, I continued to pursue a Nursing degree, but got side-tracked in college life. That would be the party side of college life. There are those who say that if the person was raised in a rich family, all opportunities are available to them and there is a high! chance that the person will live a comfortable life. The same people are saying that if the person was raised in a poor family there are too many obstacles to overcome and most of the time these barriers on the way are too hard to cross. On the other hand, there are those people who say that the America is the land of opportunities and any person could achieve his/her goals if they set their mind to it. I am honest and do not deceive, cheat or steal. I am reliable; Ill do what I say Ill do and I have the courage to do the right thing. I have built a good reputation and been loyal standing by my friends, family, and my country. I treat others with respect; I follow the Golden Rule. I am tolerant of differences and I use good manners and refrain from bad language. I show consideration for the feelings of others. I will not threaten, hit or hurt anyone; I deal peacefully with my anger, insults and disagreements. I always do my best and do what I am supposed to do; perseverance is my key. I practice self-control and self discipline. I consider consequences before acting and know that I am accountable. Play by the rules; take turns and share. I am open-minded and I listen well to others. I never put the blame on anyone else for my faults. .
